Shared ground project

The Shared Ground Project, implemented by GCCFA, Solidaridad WA and Pact International with support from Tony’s Chocolonely, seeks to promote peaceful co-existence among land users, particularly cocoa farmers and miners, through responsible and peaceful sharing of land and natural resources.

As part of this initiative, the Ghana Cooperative Cocoa Farmers and Marketing Association (GCCFA) is undertaking advocacy campaigns to raise awareness on key community concerns. The following messages were shared with cocoa farmers during the campaign:

·       There should be continuous dialogue between miners and cocoa farmers throughout the concession process.

·       Cocoa farmers should have proper documentation for their lands.

·       Miners should maintain proper hygiene around nearby farms.

·       Strong, locally established grievance handling mechanisms should be in place to address conflicts timely.
